About a metre apart, separated by a rope, the buyers wait patiently. When the whistle blows, the transactions begin, and in just a few minutes, everything is gone. The truffles are gauged and weighed on old Roman scales, just as they were in the old days.   <\/p>\n\n<p>For children, it&#8217;s fascinating to discover this mysterious &#8220;black diamond&#8221;, harvested by specially trained truffle dogs or pigs. The chalets are set up under the arcades of the central square and in the adjacent streets. <\/p>\n\n<p>This market <strong>stands out for the quality of its arts and crafts<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll find jewelry, ceramics and textile creations, unique gift ideas far removed from industrial mass production. <\/p>\n\n<p>Special entertainment is provided for the occasion, including a show for the youngest, a Christmas choir and a tombola. The <strong>Champollion museum<\/strong> offers a wide range of activities and remains open at this time of year. Take the opportunity to admire the majestic Pont Valentr\u00e9, a UNESCO World Heritage site, beautifully illuminated in the evening.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc<\/strong> (20 minutes away) Don&#8217;t miss the traditional Sunday morning market, one of the most famous in the Lot. You&#8217;ll find everything you need for your Christmas meal from local producers: foie gras, free-range poultry, AOC cheeses and many other gourmet treasures.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Saint-Cirq-Lapopie<\/strong> (40 minutes away). Perched on a cliff 100 meters above the Lot river, this village, listed as one of France&#8217;s Most Beautiful Villages, becomes magical with the Christmas decorations. Stroll along its cobbled streets to discover half-timbered houses and push open the doors of craftsmen&#8217;s workshops: cabinetmakers, sculptors and painters perpetuate ancestral skills here.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Figeac<\/strong> (50 minutes away). Champollion&#8217;s hometown is well worth a visit, especially for families. The museum dedicated to him, located in the house where he was born, is a particular favorite with children. There are fun workshops for the youngest visitors, and others for the whole family (even on December 24 and 31).   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rocamadour<\/strong> (55 minutes away). The sacred town takes on an almost mystical dimension during the festive season.
